Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension Plot
In Across the 2nd Dimension, Phineas (Vincent Martella) and Ferb (Thomas Sangster) are celebrating the fifth anniversary in which they got their pet platypus, Perry (Dee Bradley Baker). They create a robot replica figure of Perry to play a game of badminton, and the shuttlecock, along with Phineas and Ferb, crashes into Heinz Doofenshmirtz's (Dan Povenmire) laboratory. Phineas, Ferb help Dr. Doofenshmirtz rebuild his "Otherdimensionator" where Perry shows up and then they find themselves in an alternate universe where a second, truly evil Dr. Doof rules over his Tri-state Area with an army of iron-fisted robots.
To save his friends from certain doom, Perry makes the ultimate sacrifice by revealing his secret identity as Agent P. Phineas and Ferb escape, meet their 2nd dimension selves, during an escape from the 2nd Dimension Doofenshmirtz. Falling down Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc., Perry inserts his legs in a skull's eyes and saves Phineas and Ferb, but when they reach the building below, Perry's legs get stuck in the skull's eyes and Perry, Phineas, and Ferb fall over the edge of the building, landing behind a dumpster. Phineas and Ferb then decide to find their alternate selves. They find them and see their alternate mother and father, but they find out the alternate Phineas and Ferb don't know what summer is. They perform the song "Summer (Where do we begin?).
Perry sees an announcement on the TV that if he turns himself in, then 2nd Dimension Dr Doofenshmirtz will not harm Phineas and Ferb. Perry goes to turn himself in. However, Phineas and Ferb go to Isabella for help with their device that gets them back to their own dimension. They find that she is part of the resistance movement lead by 2nd dimension Candace. Baljeet is able to open the portal for their own dimension, but they decide that they have to get Perry back before they can leave. Candace arrives, and they pleade with 2nd dimension Candace to help them get Perry back. She reluctantly agrees, but finds that 2nd Dimension Phineas and Ferb had come along. She abandons the group as they are about to rescue Perry, but upon learning that it was a trap, she stays. They are able to escape, and are racing along a mine trap. One of Doofinshmirtz's robots broke wheels off of one of the mine carts, slowing them down. Knowing that she can't save Phineas, Ferb, Candace, and Perry, she ditches them again. They are captured again. They are about to be fed to a monster, but are able to open a portal back to another dimension. Doofinshmirtz goes with them. 2nd Dimension Candace goes to help them, but is captured, and put in a cell. She is later rescued by 2nd Dimension Jeremy, and 2nd Dimension Phineas and Ferb.
The real Phineas and Ferb, Candace, and Perry are traveling throuhh the other dimensions, trying to get back to their own. This surreal sequence ends with them arriving back in Danville. Then, 2nd Dimension doofinshmirtz arrives, and releases robots into Danville. Perry orders Phineas and Ferb to go home. They go, feeling that Perry doesn't love them. They are summoned to Perry's lair, and find that all of the things they built are being stored in the lab. They summon their friends, and assemble a small army to use the things to defeat the robots. Love Handel Arrives for musical accompanyment.
The battle scenes are also extremely psychedelic. Ferb starts climbing Doofinshmirtz's building. Phineas beats him there, and he meets Perry again. Perry battles 2nd Dimension Perry, while Phineas battles 2nd Dimension Doof. Phineas is able to destroy the satellite that is forcing the robots into Danville. He continues to battle Doof, and is almost killed when regular Doofinshmirtz comes, and gives 2nd Dimension Doof a toy train that had been lost when he was a kid (a joke in the movie is that the two Doofs are polar opposites. While regular Doofinshmirtz had many, many, many truley traumatic experiences as a child, 2nd Dimension D had one, trivial trouble.) 2nd Dimension Doofinshmirtz returns to his own dimension, where he is captured by the resistance.
Several characters from the other dimension, including 2-D Candace, Jeremy, and Phineas, and Ferb arrive in Danville. 2D Perry has been neutrilized. 2D Phineas and Ferb take him home, thanking real Phineas and Ferb. Candace makes a feeble attempt to bust the boys, which of course fails. Content, she returns home to live out the remainder of her child hood. Phineas, Ferb, Candace, Isabella, Baljeet, Buford, Love Handel, and everyone else that participated in the battle, have their memories erased, as they all know that Perry is a secret agent. Before there memory's are erased Isabella kisses Phineas leaving him surprised but happy.
The movie ends with Perry entering his lair, and uploading photos from the day onto his computer. He cries tears of joy as he looks at them,knowing at least he'll always have the wonderful memories.
